About my design and what inspired it
I focused on the soulful, powerful eyes of Brandi and drew them in Adobe Illustrator where I created the poster design. I included Fireworks because they are a celebratory way to begin the New Year. I focused on the magical feeling of the evening and had fun with the shadings of color in Brandi’s name and using the stars to float the colors around the poster design to keep the viewer’s eye moving. I thought white as a background for Brandi’s name would make it pop out and wanted to keep it nice, simple and have a clean design. I found the Neptune Theatre images and did a variation of their theater name with the Neptune symbol but used a font where each letter was highlighted in a ray or beam of light to show how they spotlight their shows. I had fun doing the project and enjoyed listening to Brandi’s soulful music while I did it. She definitely is an amazing young, talented woman and I see why she has the dedicated fanbase she has. I’m impressed with her and I wanted to do something to show how she’s impressed me.

Randy Spiesman from Weichert Realtors asked me to enter this contest. I was honored that he felt I could do it justice. He thought the end design was beautiful which was very flattering. It’s been a fun project to be involved with.

So you think you understand it, do you? Well, that’s great. It is great to have an understanding of something. But do you understand it from all the angles? There are many angles you know.

One viewpoint is great but if you fixate on that, you allow all the others to die from neglect. Is that what you want? Even an artist at work has to step back from their own work to see it with fresh eyes. To take a break from it.

Even I do that. Even art that I create I can’t say I totally understand how it came into being and that’s what I love about it. The mystery is there. The beauty is there. And yet my eyes move and the view changes and the thoughts change and this brings a new wonder to it. That is the magic of it. That is what makes it its own entity. It is itself. It grows and changes as I do without my ever having to add one more brush stroke or dab of color to it.

Sometimes happiness doesn’t just come to us all the time. Focus on something else for a while. Get out of your own mind which may be a source of negativity that carries rage or frustration to every situation. When you do something else proactively it will help you forget your own mental attitude. By focusing on other productive things you will be able to find the joy within once again.

And if money is keeping you from having the art of your needs, then ask away. You may be able to just get what you want anyway.

Try to remember this when you are on the path to your goal. Don’t let others tell you what you are capable of. It’s in your hands and I believe you can make it happen. The most important question is what do you think? And then, what are you going to do about it?
